My blog contains a large number of posts. A few are included in various other publications, or as attached stories and chronicles in my emails; many more are found on loose leaves, while some are written carelessly in margins and blank spaces of my notebooks. Of the last sort most are nonsense, now often unintelligible even when legible, or half-remembered fragments. Enjoy responsibly.

Spirituality

What do you think of when someone tells you that they are “spiritual”? Do you think that they are Christian? Do you then see them as Earthy, Hippy, New Agey? Do you assume that they’ve spent long stretches of time trying to figure out who they are in relation to the universe around them?

So what is Spirituality? Is it different to everyone? Is it a term that has been stretched so thin that no one can really define it? Would you say that you are Spiritual? Why? Why not?

I think it is different to everyone, but that the difference is the 'same' to all of us in that we all need a word to describe (each of our) 'me' because there isn't any space to be 'me' for each of us anymore because there's no value to life anymore? ie, any human emotions that don't conveniently fit into a smooth running world are now classed as 'abnormal'... 'mental disorders'. Kindness is now 'weakness'. The unkind and those who successfully buried their own humanity (usually in exchange for wealth and power) are those who classify normal humanity in others as 'abnormalities'.

In that way I see Christianity (outside of the social control part of it - people calling themselves Christian, not the Church in power) Hippyness, New Age-iness, Earthiness - as all the same. Individuals who recognise they ARE individuals trying to assert that fact, trying to be recognised as so in a world that seems to want churn out a pasturized, standardized, socially perfect, unfeeling, well behaved robot of human beings as 'the norm'.

When you think about it, the reason you're asking, and the reason I'm someone answering is just because of that. We have to ask, and answer questions that SHOULDN'T NEED to be asked or answered, because individuality isn't recognised, because we're conditioned to wonder why people are 'different', though in that difference they're 'the same'. Somut like that?

The 'different yet the same' bit is something like, each of us is 'unique', but being 'unique' is something common to the human race... therefore its not 'unique'?

Run out of IQ sometime during this comment, better go offline before leaving any further confusing and possibly stupid replies...mutter...mutter...
